I am green with puppy envy, but alas, at this point in my life I'm relegated to old dogs that I can outlive (so as not to leave any dependent creatures homeless when I go). Enjoy Nancy; she's a little charmer. When I think of "Nancy," Nancy and Sluggo of comic book fame come to mind.
O my goodness..she is the best Nancy of all the Nancys. Thank you for reminding me. I have rescued two senior dogs and one is mellow and napping with her, the other is highly insulted. My seniors were getting lethargic. Now, Katy bar the door.
I have so many "to write" on my dashboard...the trouble is I get lost, too. Yesterday I learned abt to hoity toity role of postmasters in the Netherlands.
She is a Boston Terrier.(but looks like a French bulldog). In my childhood a family in the neighborhood had one and I always remembered what a sweet dog..and her size will be abt. 12-14 lbs like my 2 others. So funny that the ND books, like the Hardy Boy books were written by a factory of writers, not one person.
OK! Got it! Had a rat terrier who was a similar shape and size but with a pointy nose, obvs. Cutie.
Well, I liked the Hardy Boys distinctly less than Nancy Drew - I was thinking of one or two other similar style of series (kids solve crime), one of which, in retrospect, may have helped inspire Scooby-Doo, since the one tended to the supernatural. Unfortunately the names will not come to me.

i gutted the elementary school library before i managed to finally scam a library card
OK, I looked. (Apparent head cold sucks.) The only thing that seemed vaguely familiar was the Dana Girls. I think I read some non-Stratemeyer series', probably from the late 50's to late 60's, but I can't be sure.
yessss! the content we've all been waiting for ;)
that intense cuteness is something all sides can agree on...
books are the best but so are dogs :))
She is adorable
Too cute. The history you provided in relation to the name Nancy was informative
For librarians I thought it was for Nancy Pearl!
O, I have her on my desk. I should have thought of her.,

This might be my favorite post ever. Thank you for you rabbit hole posts, that drive my imagination and your bulldog dreams.
Thank you! Nancy is a handful. She has discovered the older dogs' tails as potential toys. Much referring going on.
That is so great--I added a picture of Nancy & Sluggo to the website. https://kathleenmccook.substack.com/p/not-thinking-about-books

lol i can't wait for that one!
French bulldog?
"For librarian friends I can say she is named after Nancy Drew."
I would go with Nancy Drew. Or Nancy Wilson of Heart.

So many books kids read were from the Stratemeyer Syndicate (1905-1985)--
-- 1,400 volumes of juvenile series books. Bobbsey Twins, Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, Tom Swift.

bunch of them though
I love it- a Rocky Raccoon reference! She’s adorable. If she takes a liking to a specific toy you can name it Dan. ;)
What an appealing dog! I expect to see her posting comments on your posts soon. I think I'll go with Nancy Drew, one of the best Nancys of all.
