When I left home for Boot Camp, my mother, being always so incredibly efficient and tidy, donated my comic book collection and my vinyl record collection to the local Goodwill. I know I had some classics in there including an original "In a Gadda da Vida" by Iron Butterfly. 🙄🤷♀️
Damn. Look at these prices. I look at rare book catalogs and these are higher than most of them. I bet a lot of men are mad at their moms for this but at least your room was neat.
My most prized old and rare books are Alaska goldrush related:
The Goldsmith of Nome by Sam Dunham, 1901,1st ed. A collection of verse by a U.S. federal surveyor, an eye-witness account of goldrush era Nome.
Travel and Adventure in the Territory of Alaska by Frederick Whymper, 1869, 1st ed. Recounting his mapping venture canoeing down the Yukon River 1867-68, another eye-witness account of life as it truly was, rather than what we wish it to be. This copy has the original map of the Yukon River intact and still attached. Wonderful mapping!!
