I suspect this is but the tiny tip of a huge iceberg of 'frozen' data, all to be revealed in time. One must be mindful that woven into each and every lie is the hidden seed of its telling.

History gets written by the victors so is likely a whitewash ignoring an inconvenient truths. I am somewhat concerned that SubStack sites are not being archived by Wayback, except by request. And much of SubStack is ignored or suppressed by Google. And we have seen that even the Wayback seems to disappear some content from time to time.

Trying to place yourself into those time periods as historians must, is a leap for others.

Substack--you are correct--it's not being saved well and doesn't show up in searches. Anyone writing here should think of alternative platforms for saving their work.

As for archives--you are right again. It's hit and miss what gets saved or even what hisorians look at. Each state has its own rules.

Indeed writers can mirror content. Private servers are quite cheap for small sites and low bandwidth needs. But that isn't preserved for the public. And SubStack doesn't make it easy to archive comments which for the future historians reflect how public opinion has moved.
