This is why I always save my files to open source platforms, and multiple platforms at that. Years ago, coinciding with the loss of saved links on AOL which my techy hubby was able to resurrect for me, a person on the old Democratic Underground site related how a section of video he had stored on some proprietary platform was bought out by another company, and now no one (including himself) can view that video again ever. That spoke to me. I'm OCD about file storage and I toss coins at whatever open source programs I frequent whenever I can. Big money rules and "trust no one" are words to live by.
Thankfully MTV sold all their music videos to youtube where they can be accessed, at least for the present.

And you know I think about that with this substack. I've saved a few but not all. It could disappear!
