Depends on where you hit it. And a lot of other, particularly what the tanks is has loaded on outside. It was entirely possible to drop a Molotov onto the periscope of the driver and then close up with the tank and attack it with grenades/jam the tread.

Apparently the molotov cocktail can disrupt the communication of a tank but can't really damage it.
