All the more reason to scan these treasures, at least for researchers.

Are Playboy mags available in your libraries? Never seen them over here. Nice to be in touch.

They used to be but I haven't looked in a while. When I worked in a library we had to keep them behind the desk--not for censorship, but because they got stolen.

That's too funny!

That being a more sheltered time I would be asked if the Playboy with the interview was available and then the young man would blush.

More sad news about people trying to destroy other people's ability to express their ideas and beliefs. Destroying a library is always a bad idea, but it is a continuing problem. Why are people so afraid of ideas?

I wonder this every day!

Somehow atrocities like this are seemingly ALL done in the name of a god or religion!

Ironically sad 🤮

Yes, in the early days of writing these entries it was mostly religion. They used to burn the people, too.

Tragic, no doubt, but knowledge cannot be destroyed...only the vessel that holds it. These can be replaced so long as we retain the capacity to bring it forth. Is this not the test of our time?

Yes, content and knowledge can be saved--but some of the ancient manuscripts are gone.

True, but manuscripts like these are not just knowledge but art. Some of the value in these items is in the aesthetic nature of the works.

I bet they did.

Oh dear, that's terrible, and we're bound to wonder if the MAGA terrorists will plan to add burning to banning, if some of them are not doing that already. Can we send a message to Bihar Sharif with all of our names added?

I think the gov't is going to pay for restoration. It seems everyone wants to ban books.

The good side is that they all think books are important.

Sir, MAGA is not a curse word, despite Joe Biden's best efforts. It stands for Make America Great Again. Do you have a problem with America striving to become better, to become great? That would mean all of America, not just white heterosexuals.

Peter - mandates and lockdowns are part of only one party’s plans as evidenced…

Books within libraries should be Age Appropriate!

If they had playboy magazines and equivalents in our junior high ,they would have had to double the size of the library or limit the time youngsters could spend there.

Parents should have plenty to say about what their children are being exposed to until they’re “adults “ ! We needed a-note from our parents to go to a museum for Christ Sake !

Really inflammatory comment. The books to be removed from school libraries are what some might say are too explicit of the ages involved. Apparently there are parts that cannot be read aloud on TV. I can see some parents might be offended. For the public at large we are far from removing Lady Chatterley from libraries as we once did. We once tried to shield children from some content and still we have movies with a R or X restriction.

In my formative years I enjoyed Mike Hammer books which were adult content. I doubt much of that was attractive to pre-teens. But I was spared from 'One Hundred and Twenty Days of Sodom" by DeSade until much later.
