Johnny Cash Statue to U.S. Capitol

Artist is Kevin Kresse from Little Rock, Arkansas

The statue, featuring Cash with a guitar and a Bible, will be unveiled on September 24th in the Capitol's Visitor Center, marking the first statue of a professional musician in the Capitol.

A statue of Johnny Cash is slated to be installed in the U.S. Capitol Building, in Washington, D.C., as part of the National Statuary Hall Collection on September 24, 2024.

Kevin Kresse is the Little Rock sculptor chosen to create the Cash bronze likeness. It is eight feet tall and depicts him with both a Bible and a guitar.¹

in 2002, Johnny Cash covered Hurt (original by Nine Inch Nails/Trent Reznor) for the final album during his lifetime, American IV: The Man Comes Around.³

The accompanying video, featuring images from Cash's life and directed by Mark Romanek, was named the best video of the year by the Grammy Awards and CMA Awards, and the best video of all time by NME in July 2011.

American IV: The Man Comes Around. was fourth in Cash's "American" series of albums. It was produced by Rick Rubin.
