When I was with the US Coast Guard in Valdez (~1983), we got this new piece of electronic equipment knowns as "facsimile machine". I'll never forget when the RM1 wheeled it in. It took the both of us to push it up the ramp into the Traffic Center.
Radiomen had all the fun.
When the narrator boasts about "an incredible 2 pages a second", you know it's an old commercial.
