The International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB)1 Breslauer Prize for Bibliography will be awarded on 14 September 2022 during the ILAB Symposium at the Bodleian Library, Oxford.
The Breslauer Prize recognizes every four years the author of the best work, published or unpublished, of learned bibliography: research into the history of the book or book trade, book design or binding, typography, or books of general interest on the subject. Entries are not restricted to English language publications: all languages and places of publication are considered, by an international jury.
Fabrizio Govi, Secretary for the Prize has stated:2
The quality of printing, the quality of the pictures and the overall physical aspect of the book play an important role in the final decision of the jury. That’s why the prize can be awarded only to published text. As booksellers, we acknowledge the importance of a widespread digitization and informatization of bibliographical studies and take advantage of it, but we also think that it is among our goals to actively support the future of the printed book and the creation of beautiful printed objects.
See the Submissions 2022 site to view the wide range of subjects and languages submitted for the 2022 Prize.
The International League of Antiquarian Booksellers, ILAB, is the world’s largest network of professional rare booksellers. A lovely thing to read in these days of barbarism.
