"I wonder what CNN would have done had it been in existence the seven years that St. Cuthbert’s coffin was carried by monks to various places in modern Scotland and Northumbria before settling it in the still existing St Cuthbert's church which is now a world heritage site?"

Well, they would have lost their minds around VIKINGS! and they would have run in circles for days about VIKINGS! and then would wandered off to talk about the potential world-ending threat of a baby-eating SEA MONSTER! recently spotted off the Isle of Man. Later, during the slow season, they would've talked a lot about SHARKS! and then maybe had a special on VIKINGS!, and at some point during the slow season several years later they would've had a two minute report on Cuthbert's coffin. Now here's one for you: what kind of reporting would they have done on the uhhhh 'in and outs' of the Surrealist scene in France and/or Mexico? Yow. Assuming they noticed it at all: 'Evidence of the Fall of Civilisation Seen in the Decadence of the Surrealists in Paris'? Wait, that's a NYT subhed. Bleh.

(It's been quite awhile since I turned off CNN utterly, and quite a long time since I effectively abandoned them and cable TV news in general.)

Right, I owe you the library story. Here shortly, hopefully.
