I am amazed every day the many ways governments control information (whether we agree or not) and then I saw the Hong Kong shutdown by the CCP of Apple News...and someday I'll do more on the Eastern block. Burn the libraries, Seize the websites, shutdown the papers. I thought I'd do this substack just a little while but the news cycle is full of it from all directions.
Pretty sure I can get around this with a VPN. Good job making me want to read PressTV, U.S. Gov't. Authoritarian dumbshits.
I don't mind paying income taxes in principle, but I do think one should be allowed to check boxes directing where one's personal revenue is funneled to. "Censorship efforts" gets an aggressive "no" from me.
That would be so fine--a check box. Looking to me like cyber war is the new battle ground with people grabbing each other's sites and their systems. I need to look into postal censorship. There hasn't ever been a way to communicate w/o gov't taking it over.
And they say this: "Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh described the move as a "systematic attempt by the United States to undermine freedom of expression on a global level and to silence independent voices in media."
He blasted as “disgraceful” Washington’s policy of double standards and regretted that the “current US administration has exactly followed the path of the previous administration, which will only lead to a double defeat for Washington.”
Don't know why, but I find this funny.

haha, you don't even need a VPN: just go to presstv.ir if you want to read PressTV. "Seized" my ass.
I would love it if every censorious bureaucrat involved in this futile effort were fired, but they won't be.
That worked. So much for seizing. They sure bragged about it. I guess the banner looked very important. You are pretty crafty.

So much Kabuki theater by all involved. The deliciousness of the Iranian gov complaining about freedom of expression should be lost on no one.
You said it and no one is fooled.
